It is a well known fact that preventative is better than cure.  One of the ways you can help prevent getting headaches and migraines is to ensure you have a good night’s sleep, drink plenty of water and ensure you rest frequently.  Caffeine as well as being bad for your blood pressure can also cause palpitations and headaches   Also avoid things like spartimine and other artificial sweeteners, colorings and preservatives

Exercise – regular exercise is a great way to keep in shape and help avoid headaches.  Even a brisk daily walk counts as exercise.  It is also important to make sure you relax.  Why not try yoga or mediation?  Finally try and avoid being stuck in front of a computer screen without regular breaks!  [note to self...]

Migraines are often brought on by foods.  These could include things like oranges,, chocolate, red wine, dairy products etc.  Start to keep a food diary and see what kind of pattern emerges. [Red wine triggers mine}. Once you start seeing a pattern and have worked out what foods triggers it simply remove that particular food from your diet and continue to monitor.

If you suffer from more than one headache a week or you have had a fall or knock on the head then you should consult your doctor immediately as this could be a sign of something more serious    Too many people dismiss headaches as being nothing, remember it is your body trying to say something is wrong.
