Over the years there have been lots of theories and lots of research about what causes headaches. This is not to mention some strange headache cures. I guess the best place to start is by understanding where the brain is actually located in the skull and what actually goes on in and around the brain. .
Why are they called headaches? Well the brain itself does not actually feel pain which is why you cannot get brain aches and when people say my brain hurts it cannot be true. Hence why we call them headaches.. The muscles and blood vessels around the brain basically get irritated and so therefore cause a headache. Head Traumas are a different matter and these can leave permanent damage and cause headaches for years.
Most headaches are caused by a sequence of actions and most of these actions will have no explanation. Chemical reactions inside the blood system become unbalanced or upset. This makes the blood vessels surrounding the brain to expand and it is the extra pressure that It cause son the skull that causes you to suffer form a headache.
So what causes headaches? Headaches are caused by many different ways, as we know some are self induced such as drinking too much and others we have no control over at the moment, however, this may change. When you get stressed then this can often cause what we call Tension headaches.
Today’s modern life can be stressful and as stress starts to build up it can cause a variety of muscle expansions in the skull. As a result of this pressure build s up. If you feel you are suffering from a tension headache then try and relax. Sit back and listen to soft music etc
Sinus headaches are usually caused when the sinuses get blocked and building up pressure
The above are just some examples as to what causes headaches.
